Get ready for a Super Bowl halftime show that's making waves! While the official NFL halftime show is gearing up, a prominent conservative organization is launching its own alternative, and they've snagged a big name to headline.
Turning Point USA (TPUSA), a group co-founded by Charlie Kirk, has announced that Kid Rock will be the star of their "All-American" Super Bowl halftime show. This move comes after some conservative voices expressed dissatisfaction with the NFL's choice of Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny for the main event. TPUSA is framing their show as an underdog story, with Kid Rock himself stating, "We’re approaching this show like David and Goliath." He added, "Competing with the pro football machine and a global pop superstar is almost impossible… or is it?"
But here's where it gets interesting... Bad Bunny, who is a U.S. citizen, has been quite vocal about his political views, including his criticism of Donald Trump. He's even mentioned hesitations about touring in the U.S. due to concerns about ICE raids. His recent historic win at the Grammys for the first non-English album to take home Album of the Year was accompanied by a powerful acceptance speech where he called for "ICE Out" and asserted, "we’re not savages, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens, we are humans, and we are Americans."
Whether intentional or not, Bad Bunny's selection by the NFL certainly reflects a push to connect with a more global audience. Even Oliver Schusser, head of Super Bowl halftime show sponsor Apple Music, praised the NFL and Roc Nation's choice, noting that it's rare to find an artist who pleases absolutely everyone. He expressed pride in their decision.
Kid Rock, a well-known supporter of Donald Trump, won't be alone. The "All-American" lineup also features country music stars Brantley Gilbert, Lee Brice, and Gabby Barrett. You'll be able to catch this alternative show on TPUSA's social media channels and various other platforms including Daily Wire+, Real America’s Voice, TBN, CHARGE!, The National News Desk, NTD.com, and OAN News.
Turning Point USA spokesman Andrew Kolvet stated that their halftime show is designed for "all Americans to enjoy... with no agenda other than to celebrate faith, family and freedom."
And this is the part most people miss... Is the emergence of these alternative halftime shows a sign of a growing divide in how entertainment is consumed, or simply a creative response to artistic choices? Does the NFL's effort to reach a global audience inadvertently alienate a segment of its traditional fanbase?
